Mountain-Inspired Home Design

Colorado Ruggedness Meets Elegance

After years of relocating from state to state, an orthopedic surgeon, his wife and their three children settled down on Chicago’s North Shore, building a Rocky Mountain-inspired home reminiscent of his home state of Colorado. They chose lodge-like finishes for their home – chunky stone archways and fireplaces, slate accent tiles and oak floors.  We finished the interior with an organic, textural and refined style that fits this family of five like, well, custom-made skis! The furnishings are comfortable and durable yet not overly masculine or too Western-esque. We drew from Chicago and Canadian artists for the artwork and selected an earthy, neutral palette in shades of gray and blue, cream, bark and mushroom, for a seamless transition to the heavily wooded property.
